Masaya Yasui

Mr. Yasui joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), working for the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy (ANRE) after he earned a master's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kyoto University in 1982.

He worked with OECD/NEA from 1987 to 1988, and 1990 to 1992.

In 2011, after the Fukushima Daiich accident, Mr. Yasui was appointed to Deputy Director-General for Nuclear Safety Regulation Reform in METI, and engaged in the establishment of a new regulatory organization.

When the NRA was established in September 2012, he was assigned to serve as Executive Inspector of the NRA, and appointed to Secretary-General of the NRA in January 2017.
