xLPR Version 2 Code Brings State-of-the-Art Probabilistic Analysis Capabilities to Nuclear Power Plant Piping
Completion of the Extremely Low Probability of Rupture (xLPR) Version 2 probabilistic fracture mechanics code caps a multiyear, intensive research effort conducted jointly by the NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Research and the Electric Power Research Institute. The code provides the NRC and industry with new quantitative capabilities to analyze the risks associated with nuclear power plant piping systems subject to active degradation mechanisms. Initial applications of the code will focus on the analysis of leak-before-break for pressurized water reactor welds subject to degradation by stress corrosion cracking.
