TH29 Improvements in the Regulatory Licensing Process
Kathryn Brock
Kathryn M. Brock is the Deputy Director, Division of Operating Reactor Licensing, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). Ms. Brock joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2002 as an emergency preparedness specialist/health physicist. Since that time, she has served in a number of progressively responsible positions including Team Leader for Regulatory Improvements, Division of Preparedness and Response, Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response; Chief, Research and Test Reactor Licensing Branch, Division of Policy and Rulemaking, NRR; Executive Technical Assistant, Office of the Executive Director for Operations (OEDO); and Deputy Assistant for Operations, Technical, Corporate, and Correspondence Management, OEDO. In 2015, she was selected for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Deputy Director, Division of Engineering, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES).//Before joining the NRC, Ms. Brock worked in several positions related to occupational health and radiation protection, including senior health physicist for the Oregon State University TRIGA research reactor. Ms. Brock received a bachelor’s degree in health physics and industrial hygiene from Purdue University and a master’s degree in environmental health management from Oregon State University. Ms. Brock is a graduate of the SES Candidate Development Program.
