Mark Thaggard

Mr. Thaggard is the Deputy Director of the Division of Risk Analysis in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.  Mr. Thaggard joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1989 as a Groundwater Hydrologist in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards.  Starting in 2001, he held a number of progressively responsible positions in NMSS, the former Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs, the Office of New Reactors, and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response before assuming his current position in 2016.  Mr. Thaggard received his bachelor's degree in Geology from the University of South Florida and master's degrees in Applied Mathematics and Environmental Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.  He is a graduate of the NRC's SES Candidate Development Program.
