Kevin Coyne

Dr. Coyne is the Chief of the Performance and Reliability Branch in the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research and is responsible for the Accident Sequence Precursor (ASP) Program, the collection and analysis of operating experience data for nuclear power plants, and the development of guidance documents for risk-informed regulatory applications.  Dr. Coyne began his career with NRC in 1994 and has served in various positions within RES, NRR, and Regions II and III.  Prior to joining NRC, he worked as a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. He has a doctoral degree in reliability engineering from the University of Maryland, an undergraduate degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Virginia, and is a licensed professional engineer.
