Jacob Philip

Jake Philip is a Civil/Geotechnical Engineer in the Structures, Geotechnical and Seismic Engineering Branch, SGSEB, Division of Engineering,RES.  He has been with the NRC for 37 years, initially in NRR and later RES.  Prior to his service with the NRC, Jake worked 12 years in the private sector for civil engineering consulting firms.

Jake is currentlyinvolved with the National Institute of Standards and Technology  (NIST) as project manager on research on modeling  and long-term performance of concretestructures affected by Alkali-Silica reaction (ASR).   He is also involved in risk analyses for damsand in flooding protection at Nuclear Power Plants.   Jake has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics andMathematics and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering.  He is a licensed professional engineer in theState of Maryland.
