David Lochbaum

David Lochbaum is the Director of the Nuclear Safety Project for the Union of Concerned Scientists.  Mr. Lochbaum is a nuclear engineer by training and worked in nuclear power plants for 17 years before joining UCS in the fall of 1996.  At UCS, he monitors safety issues at the nation's nuclear power plants, raises concerns with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and responds to breaking events, such as concerns over ageing power plants, and spent fuel storage.  Mr. Lochbaum left UCS in 2009 to accept a position as a reactor technology instructor at the NRC's Technical Training Center.  Mr. Lochbaum returned to UCS in his old position (but at his new location in Tennessee) in March 2010.
