TH26  Advanced Reactors: Licensing Readiness Activities

As the NRC prepares to review and regulate a new generation of non-light-water reactors (non-LWRs), a vision and a strategy have been developed to assure NRC readiness to efficiently and effectively conduct its mission for these technologies. This session will explore readiness activities associated with the licensing of non-LWRs. This session will provide an overview of NRC, U.S. Department of Energy, and Nuclear Energy Institute non-LWR activities, including regulatory issues associated with enrichment and the fuel cycle. This session will also provide an overview of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission vendor design reviews.
