W23  Maximizing Efficiency and Transparency in Safety Research of Accident Tolerant Fuel

The purpose of this session is to explain how the NRC is coordinating with industry on accident tolerant fuel (ATF) safety research to maximize efficiency and transparency. The session will include representatives from leaders of ATF experimental research programs around the world. They will share their organizations’ plans to perform experiments on ATF and how collaborations are making the research more efficient. The NRC will explain how it collaborates with industry on research, while still maintaining independence, through memoranda of understanding and independent analysis of experimental results.
