ShiZhong Lei

Mr. Shizhong Lei obtained his Ph.D in geoscience from Queen's University. For the past 25 years, he has been working as a Geoscience Technical Specialist with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). His major responsibilities are to conduct technical reviews of environment assessments, environmental risk assessments, safety assessments and other licensing or compliance-related documents from CNSC licensees in relation to groundwater protection at nuclear facilities, and make technical recommendations for regulatory decision-making and compliance.  He has also been involved with national and international guideline development on groundwater protection and safety assessment dealing with nuclear wastes. His most recent work involved the development of the Canadian Standard Association Standard N288.7 on Groundwater Protection Programs at Class I Nuclear Facilities and Uranium Mines and Mills, which was published in 2015.
