James Andersen

Mr. Andersen joined the NRC in 1991 as a Project Engineer in the Division of Reactor Licensing, NRR.  Since that time, he has held a number of progressively responsible positions including NRR Project Manager; NMSS Senior Project Manager in the high-level waste repository program; Technical Assistant for the Division of Reactor Licensing in NRR; Branch Chief for the Performance Assessment Branch in NRR; Deputy Assistant for Operations, Technical, Budget, and Performance Management, OEDO; Electrical Branch Chief in the Division of Engineering, NRR; Deputy Director for the Division of Fuel Cycle Safety and Safeguards in NMSS, Deputy Director for the Division of Preparedness and Response in NSIR,  Director of the Cyber Security Directorate in NSIR, and now the Director of Physical and Cyber Security Policy in NSIR.

Prior to the NRC, Mr. Andersen worked for the Navy in the nuclear submarine program.  Mr. Andersen received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rutgers University.
