Business Process Modeling and Analysis: How Business Processes Modeling Demonstrates How Agency Goals and Objectives Are Realized

Sponsored by the Office of the Chief Information Officer

The purpose of this table top is to communicate the value of having an effective and efficient business process as it can have a direct impact on organizational performance.

It is important that an organization understands how their work activities help to achieve U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) strategic goals.  Whether an office has a lead or supporting role in a business process, modeling provides a holistic view of the work activities performed and the results achieved. Additionally, it provides a snapshot into the complexity and level of effort required to produce NRC decisions and licensing products.  Because these business processes are so complex and cross many offices and technical disciplines, it is key that the initiators of the process (budget, internal guidance, work activities, resources, and deliverables) are captured. Decisionmakers can use this information to lead improvement efforts which can increase the consistency, effectiveness and efficiency of the business process and its results.
