George Thomas

Dr. George Thomas is a Senior Structural Engineer in the Division of License Renewal in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) at the NRC, and has significant expertise in the area of Alkali-Silica Reaction of concrete. Prior to this position, he worked as a structural engineering expert conducting licensing safety reviews in the Division of Engineering both in the Office of New Reactors and the Office of NRR. He also served as the NRC voting member on the ASME Section XI, Working Group on Containment during the period 2007-2013. Prior to joining the NRC in 2006, George worked in industry for about 15 years. George holds a PhD degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from Texas Tech University, is a registered professional engineer in Maryland, and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
