Dan Dorman

In his 23+ year career in the NRC, Dan Dorman has held a number of positions throughout the agency, including serving as the licensing project manager in NRR for Vermont Yankee and Maine Yankee, and the Chief of the Quality Assurance and Safety Assessment Section in the Division of Inspection Program Management, NRR.  In 2001, Mr. Dorman was selected for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Chief, Engineering Research Applications Branch, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.  In 2003, he joined the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response as Deputy Director, Division of Nuclear Security, and in 2006 was appointed Director, Division of Security Operations.  In 2008, he was appointed Director, Division of Fuel Cycle Safety and Safeguards in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS).  In 2010, he was selected as the Deputy Director in NMSS and he assumed his current position in NRR in January 2012.  Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Dorman served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy's nuclear power program with a subspecialty in joint intelligence operations.  He received a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Webb Institute of Naval Architecture.
