Meraj Rahimi

Meraj Rahimi has more than 30 years of experience in the area of spent nuclear fuel management. For the past 6 years, he has been the Chief of Criticality, Shielding, and Risk Assessment branch in the Division of Waste Management within Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards at the NRC.  Prior to his current assignment, he performed as a Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, and System Performance Analyst in reviewing designs of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks and a repository.  Prior to joining NRC in 1998, he was with JAI Associates for 7 years as a Senior Engineer performing reviews and research on cask development.  Prior to joining JAI, he was with Jacobs Engineering as a system analyst for 6 years working on design and development of MRS and transportation casks.  Meraj holds a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Nuclear Engineering from University of Tennessee.
