Maria Korsnick has extensive nuclear industry operations and executive experience. She joined the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) in May 2015 as a loaned executive from Exelon and is serving a chief operating officer. In this role, she is responsible for the Government Affairs, Strategic Planning and Policy, Suppliers and International Programs, Nuclear Generation and Communication divisions. Prior to joining NEI, she was the senior vice president of Northeast Operations for Exelon. She was responsible for overseeing day-to-day operation of Exelon's three nuclear stations in the northeast region: Calvert Cliffs, Ginna and Nine Mile Point.
Before joining Exelon, Korsnick served as acting chief executive officer and chief nuclear officer at Constellation Energy Group (CENG). Previously, Korsnick held positions of increasing responsibility at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant, R.E. Ginna Nuclear Plant and at CENG's headquarters in Baltimore, MD.
During her 17 years at Calvert Cliffs, Korsnick was an integral member of the leadership team that brought the site national recognition for achieving world records in outage duration and quality. Korsnick also led the team responsible for the acquisition and integration of the Ginna site into the CENG fleet.
Korsnick serves as a leader in several industry groups, including chair of the U.S. Industry's Fukushima Response Steering Committee. She is the former executive chairman of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Materials Committee and Equipment Reliability Committee and former chair of the EPRI Nuclear Power Council. Korsnick also served as a member of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Future of Learning Team and the National Academy for Nuclear Training Accreditation Board.
Korsnick earned her bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Maryland and she has held a Senior Reactor Operator license at Calvert Cliffs.
