TH33  Spent Fuel: Perspectives on Interim Consolidated Storage

What are the NRC’s processes and regulations for an interim consolidated storage facility and the status of industry efforts to license such a facility? Speakers will discuss interim consolidated storage regulatory requirements, the status of the development of applications by the companies that have submitted letters of intent to construct such facilities, and comments received during associated public meetings. The session will also cover the U.S. Department of Energy’s activities to implement their national strategy for the management of used nuclear fuel, and representatives from the Decommissioning Plant Coalition will provide their perspectives and views on the proposed licensing plans for interim consolidate storage facilities.
