TH31  Fukushima Dai-ichi: U.S. Road to Closure

Significant safety enhancements have been made to protect the public’s health and safety, and the environment, from a beyond-design basis nuclear event like the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident.  This session is will provide an update of U.S. actions to implement lessons learned from the accident.  Speakers from the NRC and from stakeholder organizations will share their perspectives on these enhancements, will discuss the beginning stages to closure on lessons-learned activities, and will also discuss transitioning lessons-learned enhancements into the permanent regulatory framework and oversight programs.
