W25  Human Capital Challenges in Health Physics and Other Technical Areas: Will the United States Meet Domestic and International Needs?

In 2004, the Health Physics Society (HPS) sounded an alarm about the shortage of qualified radiation safety professionals. It has been 12 years since the Health Physics Society’s proclamation and this session will explore the current status and outlook for the profession. The session will have a panel discussion to explore whether or not current U.S. academic programs and professional efforts are sufficient to meet national and international staffing needs.
