Pam B. Cowan is Director of Spent Fuel and Decommissioning at Exelon Generation. In that role, Pam is responsible for spent fuel pool and dry cask fuel storage strategy, special nuclear material management and decommissioning financial reporting and planning for Exelon’s nuclear reactors. Pam has 25 years of commercial nuclear power experience and has held senior management roles in Nuclear Fuels, Licensing, Work Management, Engineering and Nuclear Oversight. Prior to those roles, Pam spent time on shift in Operations as a licensed control room supervisor. Pam started her career as an engineer at Westinghouse Electric Corporation performing licensing basis thermal-hydraulic and core transient analyses.
Pam holds a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech and a master’s in Engineering Management from Drexel University. Pam was licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) at the Salem Generating Station and completed the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Senior Nuclear Plant Manager course.
Pam is currently the vice-chair of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Used Fuel and High Level Waste Technical Advisory Committee. She supports the local community as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Delaware Valley Science Fair.
Pam lives with her husband, Bill, and son, Jason, in Kennett Square, PA.
