Jonathan Barr

Jonathan Barr has worked at NRC since receiving his master’s degree in materials science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  Mr. Barr also holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University and an MBA degree from the University of Maryland.  Since joining NRC, his work has focused on severe accident analyses of high-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGRs) and light water reactors (LWRs) including the SOARCA project.  Over the last three years, his work has focused on severe accident offsite consequence analyses using the MACCS code suite.  Mr. Barr is NRC’s lead offsite consequence analyst for the Containment Protection and Release Reduction (CPRR) rulemaking for BWRs with Mark I and Mark II containments.
