Steven West

Steven West is the Deputy Director of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES).  He serves as the Chairman of the agency’s Committee to Review Generic Requirements, as the Chairman of the agency’s Lessons Learned Oversight Board, and as a member of the NRC Risk-Informed Steering Committee.  He is also the United States representative of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) and the CSNI Program Review Group, and is the Vice Chairman of the NEA Senior Expert Group on Safety Research Opportunities Post-Fukushima.  Steve joined the NRC in 1985.  In addition to his current position in RES, Steve has served in increasingly responsible positions in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, the Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs, Region III and Region IV.
