Kazuhide Tomita

Mr. Kazuhide Tomita, Director for International Nuclear Safety Cooperation at Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA), has been leading many programs of international cooperation among nuclear regulatory bodies of other countries since he joined NRA in 2014.

Prior to this, Mr. Tomita worked for Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES) in the area of international cooperation from 2004 to 2014. JNES was an organization originally established to support the nuclear regulatory body. It was integrated into NRA in 2014.

Mr. Tomita is also serving as Vice Chair of the Steering Committee of the Asian Nuclear Safety Network (ANSN), one of IAEA’s leading regional cooperation network.

Mr. Tomita graduated from Waseda University, Tokyo Japan with B.E. degree in electrical engineering in 1973.

After graduation, Mr. Tomita engaged in many design projects of electrical system for PWR plants and I&C modernization project as a manager in Mitsubishi Atomic Power Industries Inc. and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD until 2004.
