Richard P. Correia

Richard P. Correia, is currently the Director, Division of Risk Analysis, in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES). Mr. Correia joined the NRC in 1985 as Reactor Engineer in the former Office of Inspection and Enforcement. From 1987 to 2006, he held progressively more responsible positions in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR), including Senior Operations Engineer; Chief, Resource Management Branch, Program Management, Policy Development and Planning Staff (PMAS) and Deputy Director, PMAS. Mr. Correia is a 2005 graduate of the NRC’s SES Candidate Development Program and in 2006, was selected as the Deputy Director for Security Oversight, Division of Security Operations, in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response (NSIR). In 2008, he was appointed to position of Director, Division of Security Policy, NSIR. Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Correia worked for Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation, Duke Power Company, and Carolina Power and Light Company. He received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and is a licensed Professional Engineering in Connecticut and Virginia.
