Ian Jung

Mr. Ian Jung is the Chief of the Instrumentation, Controls, and Electronics Engineering Branch 2, Division of Engineering, Office of New Reactors. He has worked for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission longer than 20 years and has been involved in areas such as licensing, oversight, incident response, and event assessment.  His branch leads the new reactor licensing reviews of the instrumentation and control designs including ESBWR, ABWR, US-APWR, and advanced reactors such as mPower and NuScale.  He was the Chair of the Task Working Group on Diversity and Defense-in-depth (D3) which led to the development of the D3 Interim Staff Guidance and subsequently Revision 6 to Branch Technical Position 7-19.  He was also the Chair of the Multinational Design Evaluation Program (MDEP) Digital I&C Working Group from its inception till 2011.  He holds BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from University of Maryland, College Park.
