Scott Morris

Scott Morris currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Division of Preparedness and Response within the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.  He works with the Division Director in overseeing the five branches of the division: the Operations Branch, Coordination Branch, New Reactor Licensing Branch, Operating Reactor Licensing and Outreach Branch, and Inspection and Regulatory Improvements Branch.

Mr. Morris has an extensive background with the NRC, where he has worked for over 20 years.  He began his NRC career in Region I as a Reactor Engineer and Operator License Examiner and later as a Senior Resident Inspector at two different power reactor sites.  In 2000 he came to NRC headquarters as a Senior Technical Assistant for the Executive Director of Operations before being assigned as Branch Chief of the Reactor Security Branch in NSIR shortly after 9/11.  Prior to obtaining his current position, Mr. Morris was the Deputy Director of Reactor Security in the Division of Security Policy.  Mr. Morris served on active duty as a submarine officer in the United States Naval Nuclear Power Program for seven years after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
