Bernard C. Rudell

Bernard Rudell holds a BS Degree in Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland (1978) with 35 years commercial nuclear plant experience.  Bernie was one of Calvert Cliffs first Shift Technical Advisors and previously held a Reactor Operators License for Calvert Cliffs Units 1 & 2.  His earlier background includes Inservice Inspection (ISI), Repair & Replacement, Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) and Steam Generator program management.  Bernie prepared the specification for and was the site lead for the first commercial Reactor Vessel 10-Year Inservice Inspection to employ automated digital target acquisition analysis. Bernie has been involved with Alloy 600 Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking (PWSCC) concerns since first discovered in commercial nuclear steam generators and is a primary contributor in the development and maintenance of the Alloy 600 program plan.  He has held various engineering and project supervisory positions including Project Manager for the Calvert Cliffs Steam Generator and Reactor Vessel Head replacements.  He currently has responsibility for governance and oversight of the CENG Materials Degradation Management program including Reactor Vessel Internals inspection.  Bernie has been the chairman of the EPRI MRP Mitigation and Testing Technical Advisory Committee and currently chairs the MRP Integration Committee.
