Mark Lombard

Mark Lombard serves as the Director of the Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation in the Office of Nuclear Materials Safety and Safeguards.  Mr. Lombard joined the NRC in 2003, as a Senior Security Specialist in the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.  In 2004, he was selected as Chief, Security Branch in the Office of Administration (ADM) Division of Facilities and Security, and later served as Deputy Director, Division of Facilities and Security.  Since joining the Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2008, Mr. Lombard has served in several senior management positions including Director, Division of Facilities and Security, ADM; Associate Director for Space Planning and Consolidation, ADM; and most recently as Deputy Director, Division of Safety Systems and Risk Assessment, Office of New Reactors.  Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Lombard served in a number of positions in the private sector including Director of Security for USEC Inc. and Vice President of MDM Engineering Corporation.  He received a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and is a graduate of NRC’s SES Candidate Development Program.
