Andrea Valentin

Andrea D. Valentin is currently serving as the Deputy Director of the Division of Construction Inspection and Operational Programs (DCIP) in the NRC’s Office of New Reactors (NRO).  Previously she served as the Associate Director for Human Resources Operations and Policy in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer. Ms. Valentin joined the NRC in 1992 as an Intern in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and progressed to the position of Senior Materials Engineer.  In 2003, she completed a Congressional Fellowship on Capitol Hill.  She joined the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES) as Chief of the Corrosion and Metallurgy Branch in 2004, and in 2007 she became Chief of the Regulatory Guide Development Branch.  From November 2010 to June 2011, Ms. Valentin served as the Acting Director, Program Management, Policy Development and Analysis Staff, RES.  She also completed a detail in the Office of Commissioner Merrifield in 2006 and completed a rotation as Deputy Director, Division of Systems Analysis, RES, in 2010.  In 2011, she completed an assignment in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations overseeing the implementation of the recommendations of the Transforming Assets into Business Solutions (TABS) Task Force.  Prior to joining NRC, Ms. Valentin worked for Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan and Detroit Edison Engineering Division.  Ms. Valentin received a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University.  She is a 2009 graduate of the NRC Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program.
