Robert Hardies

Robert Hardies serves as the Senior Level Advisor for Materials Engineering and Metallurgy in the Division of Engineering in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  Prior to his selection as Senior Level Advisor, Bob served as Chief of the Component Integrity Branch in the Division of Engineering in the NRC Office of Research.  In 2005, he began his career with the NRC as a Senior Materials Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

Mr. Hardies has over 30 years of experience in metallurgical consulting related to materials application, investigation, testing, evaluation and failure analysis.  Prior to joining the NRC, he worked for Constellation Energy as a Metallurgical Consultant.  He also worked as a Materials Engineer for ARINC Corporation and in the Federal Government at the David Taylor Naval Ship R&D Center.

Mr. Hardies earned his B.S. in Metallurgy from Pennsylvania State University and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from George Washington University.
