Greg Hardy

Mr. Hardy is a Senior Principal for the Newport Beach office of Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, which is a leading structural engineering firm in the United States.  Mr. Hardy has more than thirty years of experience in structural mechanics engineering with a special emphasis in seismic risk.  His responsibilities have included seismic probabilistic risk assessments, seismic margin analyses, earthquake experience investigations, aircraft impact analyses, and vibration testing for hardware qualification.  He has been a consultant in the area of structural mechanics to highly protected industries such as Nuclear, Defense, DOE, and Energy.  He has consulted with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and has participated in reviews with the DOE Defense Board and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  He has managed multi-million dollar projects, participated on the Board of Directors of two companies (SGH and EQE International) and has managed a division of over 300 people.

Mr. Hardy is currently working closely with both EPRI and NEI to coordinate the industry response to the post-Fukushima Near Term Task Force recommendation 2.1 for seismic, including the newly proposed Augmented Approach for resolution of this issue.
