Scott Flanders

Scott C. Flanders has been appointed Director, Division of Site and Environmental Reviews, Office of New Reactors. Mr. Flanders joined the NRC in 1991 as a Nuclear Reactor Safety Intern in NRR, and later served as a Project Manager. In 1999, he joined NMSS and served as a Senior Project Manager in the Spent Fuel Project Office; Technical Assistant to the Office Director; and Chief, Environmental and Low-Level Waste Section in the Division of Waste Management. In 2004, Mr. Flanders was selected for the SES position of Deputy Director, Environmental Protection and Performance Assessment Directorate, NMSS, and continued in this position when the Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs (FSME) was formed in 2006. In 2008 he joined the Office of New Reactors as the Director of the Division. He received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and has completed post graduate studies at American University in Business Administration and Public Policy. He is a graduate of the SES Candidate Development Program. Mr. Flanders' appointment is effective June 30, 2008.
