Keijo Valtonen

Mr. Keijo Valtonen was born in 1950. He completed his studies of Reactor physics and thermal hydraulics with a Master of Science degree at Helsinki University in 1976. 

Mr. Valtonen joined the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in July 1975 and had various positions until in September 2008 he was appointed assistant director of the Nuclear Reactor Regulation Department. 

His career history includes active participation in the work of the IAEA, the OECD/NEA and recently the Multinational Design Evaluation Programme‘s (MDEP). He is a member of the Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) of the OECD/NEA. He is also a member of management board of the Finnish National Research Program (SAFIR2014). In 1990-1991 and 1995 Mr. Valtonen worked as a foreign assignee (visiting scientist) at the U.S. NRC (Brookhaven National Laboratory).
