James Benson

James Benson is a Program Manager in the Steam Generator Management Program at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Responsibilities have included research and development on material degradation in steam generators, including advanced inspection technologies, materials performance, improved water chemistry, and tube integrity assessments. Before joining EPRI in 1996, Mr. Benson was employed for fifteen years at Northeast Utilities. As a Senior Engineer in the Nuclear Materials and Chemistry Department, he was involved with directing the development of nondestructive examination techniques, performing steam generator assessments, recommending corrective actions to mitigate corrosion and predicting the remaining useful life of plant components. Mr. Benson received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from the University of Connecticut.
