Michael E. Ernstes

Michael Ernstes serves as the Chief of Construction Projects Branch 4 in NRC Region II with responsibility for oversight of the resident inspectors at the AP1000 reactor sites.  Mr. Ernstes joined the NRC in 1986 as an Operator Licensing Examiner in Region II.  Since that time he has held a number of progressively more responsible positions in Region II including Senior Operator Licensing Examiner; Chief, Operator Licensing Branch; Chief, Projects Branch 1; Chief, Projects Branch 3; Chief, Training and Development Branch and Chief, Plant Support Branch 2 (Security).  He has been in his current position since November 2011.  Mr. Ernstes received a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Evansville.  Prior to joining the NRC he served in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program as an Engineering Officer of the Watch aboard the USS California.
