T10 Small Modular Reactors–Deployment Status
The NRC anticipates receiving design certification applications for small modular reactors (SMRs) from multiple vendors within the next several years. The proposed designs for near term submittals are integral pressurized-water reactors (iPWRs). The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced an award to design, license, and help commercialize an iPWR in the United States. This technical session will facilitate a discussion among senior administration and industry officials about the plans and challenges for deploying iPWRs.
