United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Masashi Hirano

Currently Dr. Hirano is Associate Vice-President of the Japan Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES). He used be Director General for Nuclear Safety Research Center in the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and recently moved to JNES.

He has been involved in safety analysis of LWRs and operating experience feedback for more than 35 years. He has been a member of advisory committees of the Nuclear Safety Commission and Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency for many years. He is also active in the international cooperation activities on nuclear safety in OECD/NEA and IAEA.
