Richard Laura

Richard Laura graduated from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1982 with a BS in Marine Engineering and an U.S. Coast Guard license as a Third Assistant Engineer. Mr. Laura worked in the at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in the naval nuclear program and became certified as a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer; and later promoted to an Assistant Chief Test Engineer. Subsequently in 1988, Mr. Laura joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and worked as an NRC Inspector and Senior Resident Inspector in the NRC Resident Inspector program for 14 years. In 2002, Mr. Laura joined NRC Headquarters in varying capacities working in the NRC Operations Center, NRR Operating experience program, Office of New Reactors in the Division of Construction Inspection, and currently is a member of the Japan Lessons Learned Project Directorate.
