Kevin Coyne

Mr. Coyne is the Chief of the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Branch in the NRC’s Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research and is responsible for the development of probabilistic risk assessment methods, models, and tools to support the NRC’s risk-informed regulatory initiatives.  His areas of responsibility include the development and maintenance of Standardized Plant Analysis risk models, the SAPHIRE PRA computer code, and state of the art research in digital system reliability and advanced PRA techniques.  Dr. Coyne began his career with NRC in 1994 and has served in various positions within RES, NRR, and Regions II and III.  Prior to joining NRC, he worked as a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. He has a doctoral degree in reliability engineering from the University of Maryland and is a licensed professional engineer.
