Antonio Dias

Antonio Dias is the acting Chief of the Aging Management of Reactor Systems and Guidance Update Branch in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation’s (NRR) Division of License Renewal.

Dr. Dias joined the NRC in November, 2001, as a technical reviewer in the Spent Fuel Project Office (SFPO). He was involved in the review of several transportation and storage applications in the technical areas of thermal, criticality, and containment. Next, Dr. Dias served as a Branch Chief in ACRS/ACNW&M from April 2006 to December 2010.

Prior to joining the NRC, Dr. Dias worked for several years as a consultant providing services to many US utilities as well as the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). His main area of expertise was the simulation of multi-dimensional time-dependent neutronic and thermal-hydraulic postulated events for light water reactors.

Dr. Dias has a Bachelor degree in Electrical engineering and a Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Instituto Militar de Engenharia, Brazil, and a Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
