Sean Bushart

Dr. Bushart is Senior Program Manager for the Low Level Waste, Chemistry and Radiation Protection area of the Nuclear Sector. His current activities focus on managing innovative research and applications related to water quality improvement, waste minimization, environmental protection, and radiation worker safety. Dr. Bushart joined EPRI in 1999 as a Project Manager in the Low Level Waste Management program. His research focus was on the development of waste minimization techniques, such as the EPRI Magnetic Molecules Process, for which he holds a patent. Prior to joining EPRI, Dr. Bushart worked at CytoCulture Environmental Biotechnology where he was the Laboratory Director of microbiology/chemistry laboratory services.

Dr. Bushart holds a BS degree in biology and a PhD in biology with specialization in contaminant degradation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His postdoctoral work at the State University of New York focused on the environmental chemistry of PCB’s. Dr. Bushart has published a variety of scientific as well as general interest articles on waste management and radiation safety topics.
