Matthew Sumrall

Matt Sumrall is a Health Physicist at the US Department of Transportation, Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration's Radioactive Materials Division.  Matt represents DOT in numerous radiation safety inter-agency groups and as an expert in the US delegation at the IAEA's Transport Safety Standards Committee (TRANSSC).

Prior to joining PHMSA in 2021, Matt spent 7 years in the nuclear power industry as a Staff Health Physicist and 6 years in environmental remediation of radioactive materials as a Corporate Radiation Safety Manager.  Matt was granted Certification as a Health Physicist by the American Board of Health Physics in 2014 and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University.
