DESCRIPTION:
STEEL DESIGN (Offshore Design Only, API codes)
Offshore design codes, APIWSD20 and APIOCT84, will not check the
bending stress provisions of a member when the internal axial force is
less than 2.224 Newton (0.5 Pound). When the axial force is less than
2.224 Newton (0.5 Pound) and bending moment exists, only the shear stress
is checked.
Workaround:
Apply an axial load which create an internal axial force greater
that 2.224 Newton (0.5 Pound).
