AGREEMENT STATE - FIXED GAUGE STUCK SHUTTER
The following was received from the agreement state via e-mail:
"On January 13, 2020, a licensee reported to the Agency that on January 12, 2020, it had discovered a shutter on a fixed nuclear gauge was stuck in the open position, which is the normal operating position for the gauge. The device is a Ronan SA-1 containing 5 milliCuries of Cs-137. The licensee stated that there is no concern of overexposures due to this equipment malfunction. A service company has been onsite and plans to remove the gauge on January 17, 2020. At that time, a decision will be made whether to repair or replace the gauge. An investigation into this event is ongoing and more information will be provided as it is obtained in accordance with SA-300."
