United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Reports from NRC's On-site Representatives

The mission of the U.S. NRC On-site Representatives (ORs) is to serve as a point of prompt information exchange and consultation and to preliminarily identify concerns relating to potential licensing issues. An important role for the OR is facilitating two-way communication on such items as data, plans, schedules, documents, status of activities, and in resolving NRC Key Technical Issues. The work of the OR is focused primarily on quality assurance, ongoing and planned site investigations, performance assessment, environment studies, and data management systems. The ORs obtain information in these areas by observing quality assurance audits/surveillance's, monitoring site investigations, reviewing DOE reports, and attending a variety of local meetings related to the high-level waste repository program.

The ORs participate in weekly teleconferences with NRC Headquarters staff to report on-site activities and issue bimonthly reports to NRC management and staff.
