NRC TO HOLD ANNUAL PUBLIC MEETING ON NUCLEAR SECURITY
ON SEPT. 14 IN ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting Sept. 14, 2006, in Rockville, Md., to discuss security enhancements required by the agency and actions taken by licensees to implement these enhancements. Topics to be discussed include reactor security oversight, force-on-force exercises, nuclear material security initiatives, security activities related to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, and new reactor security.

Much of the meeting, hosted by the agency’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response, will be conducted as a roundtable discussion among invited participants and NRC officials. The meeting is open and members of the public will have the opportunity to offer comments and ask questions. The meeting will be held at the NRC’s Two White Flint North Auditorium, 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Md. Please allow time to process through NRC security.
