NRC TO HOLD PUBLIC MEETING |
||
| The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a "Town Hall" style public meeting on December 14 to discuss issues regarding the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant and construction of an independent spent fuel storage installation on site. The plant is located near San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The meeting will be held between 6 and 9 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 333 Madonna Road, in San Luis Obispo. The meeting will begin with brief presentations by the NRC staff and representatives from Pacific Gas & Electric Co., on planned construction and inspection activities for the independent spent fuel storage installation. The NRC staff will then be available for questions and comments from the public on issues regarding the plant. "We thought it would be very worthwhile to hold a public meeting in San Luis Obispo prior to construction of the storage facility at Diablo Canyon," said NRC’s Region IV Administrator Bruce S. Mallett. "We have found the comments and questions we receive from the public at these meetings to be very worthwhile and we encourage people to attend." The NRC plans to make video broadcasts of the meeting available on SLO-Span, the San Luis Obispo County government cable access channel. |
