Discussion:

The FirstEnergy Corp. Board of Directors has elected Richard R. Grigg, age 55, as its new Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Grigg will report to Anthony J. Alexander, President and Chief Executive Officer of FirstEnergy. He will head several FirstEnergy business units, including Energy Delivery, Fossil Generation, and Commodity Operations. Mr. Grigg spent 34 years with Wisconsin Electric Corporation, starting as an engineer in 1970. From 1996-1998 he served as Chief Nuclear Officer of Wisconsin Electric Power Company, and was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Wisconsin Electric Generation in 2003 and retired from that position earlier this year. Mr. Grigg will assume his position with FirstEnergy in August.
