The Chairman will open the meeting with brief opening remarks, outline the topics to be discussed, and indicate several items of interest.
2) 10.40 - 12:15 P.M. Staff Analyses for Understanding Repository Performance (Open) (BJG/MPL)
The Committee will hear presentations by and hold discussions with representatives of the NRC staff on its analyses development on the use of risk information for the proposed Yucca Mountain repository.

3) 1:30 - 3:30 P.M. Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)
The Committee will discuss proposed reports on the following topics:
    3.1) Staff Analyses for Understanding Repository Performance (BJG/MPL)
    3.2) Conclusions Regarding the Safety of Spent Nuclear Fuel Transportation (ML/TJK
    3.3) Trip Report: October Visit to Swedish Waste Management Facilities and Participation in Berlin Quadripartite Meeting (GMH/HJL)

4) 3:45 - 6:00 P.M. Preparation for Meeting with the NRC Commissioners (Open) (GMH, et al./JTL et al.)
The next meeting with the NRC Commissioners is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Commissioners' Conference Room, One White Flint North on December 18, 2002. The Committee will review its proposed presentations.

Discussion of topics scheduled for the ACNW meeting with the NRC Commissioners at 9:30 a.m.

7) 9:30 - 11:30 A.M. Meeting with the NRC Commissioners (Open) (GMH, et al./JTL et al.)
The Committee will meet with the NRC Commissioners in the Commissioners' Conference Room, One White Flint North to discuss the following:
    7.1) HLW Program Risk Insights Initiative (BJG/NMC)
    7.2) Yucca Mountain Review Plan (GMH/RKM)
    7.3) Spent Fuel Transportation (ML/TJK)
    7.4) Igneous Activity at Yucca Mountain (GMH/MPL)
    7.5) Container Life and Source Term KTI (RGW/NMC)

8) 1:00 - 3:30 P.M. NRC Nuclear Waste Safety Research and Technical
Assistance Programs

The Committee will hear from representatives of the NRC staff and the Center for Nuclear Waste Regulatory Analyses on the NRC's Waste Safety Technical Assistance and Research programs.

The Committee will discuss proposed reports listed under item 3.

10) 8:00 - 8:05 A.M. Opening Statement by the ACNW Chairman (Open)

The Chairman will make opening remarks regarding the conduct of today's sessions.
11) 8:05 - 10:45 A.M.

ACNW Action Plan (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Committee members will discuss the ACNW 2002/2003 Action Plan and outline plans for sessions to assess Committee performance and update its priorities.

12) 10:45 - 11:00 A.M.

Miscellaneous (Open)
The Committee will discuss matters related to the conduct of Committee activities and matters and specific issues that were not completed during previous meetings, as time and availability of information permit.

  • Presentation time should not exceed 50 percent of the total time allocated for a specific item. The remaining 50 percent of the time is reserved for discussion.
  • Thirty-Five (35) copies of the presentation materials should be provided to the ACNW.
  • ACNW meeting schedules are subject to change.
