Safety Evaluation Report
The NRC staff reviewed the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its preliminary findings. The document was issued on September 29, 2014, as "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2."
Subsequently, on January 29, 2015, the document "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant Units 1 and 2" was issued.
Environmental Impact Statement
NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 53) Final Report," was published in March 2015. This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 regarding the Tennessee Valley Authority application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal) and the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action. It also includes the NRC staff's recommendation regarding the proposed action.
The public is encouraged to participate in the reactor license renewal process through public meetings, and public comment periods on rules, renewal guidance, and other documents. The Reactor License Renewal Public Involvement page provides general information to help the public participate.
